Focused Fido “Reactivity” Program

If you have a dog who barks and lunges at other dogs, people, cars, etc. when out on walks or in public, then this is the program for you! As an owner of a reactive dogs, we must be on top of our game and know exactly what to do in the moment to help our dog handle the situation. This is how behaviors are truly changed. If we don’t know what to do in the moment or we hesitate even for a second, the situation may be lost and our dog may react. Perfecting YOUR skills is KEY!

This program is designed to help you and your dog learn the skills necessary to address reactivity together in a safe and controlled environment. As you and your dog progress through the levels, we work towards more and more “real-life” scenarios.

What will we learn in class?

Our Focused Fido Foundations class is a 5 week class. In this class, we will cover the must have foundation skills to start addressing your dog’s reactivity. For this class, there is a max of 4 dogs. The first week is humans only and the following 4 weeks – ONLY 1 dog will come each week – this allows you to learn the skills without working about any reactivity.

Once you have completed the foundations, you can move on to our Focused Fido Levels classes. In these classes, we will work on putting your newly acquired skills to use in a safe and controlled setting. These skills need to be refined and practiced many, many times, before using them successfully out in the “Real World”.

We will also introduce additional skills and “games” to play with your dog to help change their internal feeling around other dogs. Enrichment, snuffle mats, slow feeder bowls, lick mats, etc. may be used to help counter-condition and desensitize your dog to their triggers! We want to slowly build a positive emotional response!

What do I need to do before class?

All dogs must have the age appropriate vaccinations in order to attend our classes.

What is your payment/cancellation/missed class policy?

The foundation level is 5-week class, that meets once each week at the same day & time. There are not any make up opportunities for missed weeks, but you will receive the homework from each class via email.

Levels 1 thru 4 are drop-in classes. Once you progress into our drop-in nose work classes, you are able to skip weeks and only attend when you can. As long as you give 48 hours notice, we will refund/credit you if you need to remove your registration for any reason. Please view our cancellation policy.
